What are Amanita Muscaria Mushrooms?

Amanita muscaria mushroom

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric, a reference to the tradition of using this mushroom as an insecticide, or fly amanita, is a basidiomycete of the genus Amanita. It is also a muscimol mushroom. Native throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria has been unintentionally introduced to many countries in the Southern Hemisphere, generally as a symbiont with pine and birch plantations, and is now a true cosmopolitan species. It associates with various deciduous and coniferous trees.

Amanita Muscaria mushrooms have been used in traditional healing practices for centuries and are now coming to market with more research and understanding to their effects, further confirming what ancients knew many years ago.

You may recall these unique-looking mushrooms from, Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll's book and popularized through story animation by Disney. We included a fun journey of the book cover to movie posters over the years that we found.

Remember how Alice felt eating the mushroom while talking with the caterpillar? She felt smaller if she ate from one side and felt bigger eating from the other side.

In its raw form, Amanita Muscaria is considered poisonous, meaning don't eat them if you find them growing in nature. They must be heated and dried through decarboxylation similar to the cannabis plant to release their medicinal properties safely in this case and more effectively.  See Urb's process below in the product description.

Amanita muscaria Compounds:

Ibotenic Acid: A neurotoxic secondary metabolite of Amanita muscaria, serves as a prodrug to muscimol when the mushroom is ingested or dried, converting to muscimol via decarboxylation or slight heating just like the process of activating cannabinoids like CBD.

Muscimol: Isoxazole is widely used as a selective GABAA agonist. Muscarine A natural alkaloid, a central nervous system depressant that may engage GABA receptors.

Effects Amanita extract has properties and reacts with the GABAA receptor and when ingested, it can provide feelings of euphoria, invincibility, tranquility, an altered sense of hearing and taste, changes to sensory perception, and vivid dreams.
